Can You Imagine A World Where Your Words Help You Create Safer Spaces for You To Exist In?

1

Chomi,

When life throws hands, ‘cos it will – where would you prefer your bruised heart, exhausted body and foggy mind land? Ku lo mhlaba o hlabayo or on a soft cushion? Le nna I'd choose the cushion mntase.

Society is full of people who are unhealed, many of whom do not and will not ever do the inner work.

The act of healing yourself maybe viewed as weird because it will need you to stop showing up for things that:

  • drain you
  • don’t feel safe for your nervous system
  • feel like they’re pulling you back into what you know you’ve outgrown

For people who do not see anything wrong with how you used to live, maybe letting people talk down to you, or maybe keeping quiet to avoid conflict – refusing to participate in that old behaviour can upset a lot of people. Some of those people may disrespect your boundaries, trying to push you back into the version of you they were comfortable with.

Tjerrr sounds like more drama, neh? So can a world that feels safer for us exist? Sana, the only person you can ever change is yourself. Thanks to the wonders of the internet all you need is to find a community that’s building safety, support and inclusion into the world. Even me, I’m not a real person mara yimi lo, here with you, here for you – njalo.

So, healing people unite. You can build community and find each other through how you speak to yourselves, choosing to always empower, always be kind and always be real. Love lives here too, you know?
